Empowering First Nations creatives: a new partnership on the Sapphire Coast
At The Destination Agency, we’ve always believed that storytelling can be a force for positive change, especially when it’s grounded in place, community, and purpose. That’s why we’re thrilled to share a new partnership that we know will shape something special on the Sapphire Coast.
We’ve teamed up with Studio Jaanda, a First Nations-owned creative studio, to forge new career pathways for Aboriginal creatives in our region. This partnership brings together our expertise in destination marketing and media production with Studio Jaanda’s Aboriginal-led creative vision, forming a powerful foundation for meaningful storytelling.
A natural evolution of long-standing relationships
We’ve worked closely with the Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council for many years across various tourism projects. This new collaboration with Studio Jaanda is a natural and exciting evolution of that relationship. It allows us to go deeper, offering real-world experience, professional mentoring, and real project outcomes for emerging creatives.
A campaign grounded in community
Our first project together is Community Stories, a campaign developed for our client, Bendigo Community Bank Pambula & Bega. The campaign celebrates the important work being done by local community groups and highlights the bank’s long-standing support for giving back to our community.
Through a series of short films, we’ve aimed to honour the impact of these groups while providing meaningful creative opportunities behind the camera as well.
Growing talent, together
Studio Jaanda, founded under the Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council and led by local filmmaker Kyle Wilson, is a creative studio with a bold mission: to grow a sustainable, Aboriginal-led business that produces commercial work while mentoring the next generation of First Nations creatives.
We’ve already seen this come to life through the work of trainee Alkira Aldridge, who joined the Community Stories project as part of the Studio Jaanda team. Alkira quickly found her feet on set and brought fresh perspective and energy to the production. Her involvement is a great example of the kind of real-world learning and talent development this partnership is designed to foster.
What’s next
The Community Stories campaign will launch publicly in August 2025, and we’re already planning future collaborations with Studio Jaanda across tourism, branding, and media production.
For us, this is more than just a creative partnership, it’s part of our wider commitment to nurturing regional talent and embedding inclusive, community-first practices into everything we do.
We can’t wait to share the campaign with you, and we’re excited for what’s ahead with Studio Jaanda.
